Job Title:  Instructor-Motor Vehicle Mechanics

Reports to: Head of section

Vacancies: 01

Age:30-50yrs

Purpose of the Job      : In collaboration with Head of section to ensure high standards of teaching and learning practice and processes.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Prepare, plan and organize materials for practical training sessions.
  2. Keep records of students in regards to attendance and assessment results.
  3. Conduct lessons and practical training according to the set time table.
  4. Participate in setting, administering, and marking examinations.
  5. Carry out continuous assessment and evaluation of trainees’ practical performance and – coordinating marking guides and moderating examinations;
  6. Supervise trainees during practical and fieldwork.
  7. Attend general staff meetings, and section meetings and participate actively.
  8. Guide, Counsel students and participate in co-curricular activities and Institute activities.
  9. Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans according to approved curriculum.
  10. Ensuring timely and adequate provision of textbooks, materials, and equipment required for the effective teaching of the subject.
  11. Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the section.
  12. Ensure class discipline and control.
  13. Carry out training with commercial production.
  14. Ensure safety of learners, equipment and tools under your care.

Qualifications and Work experience

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering from recognized intuition
  • A diploma in Technical Teacher/ Instructor Education (DITTE/ DTTE) from recognized University / Institution or a diploma in Vocational Instructor Training (DVT) is a MUST for all applicants.
  • Minimum teaching experience of two (2) years in the areas/field.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Student register marked.
  • All lessons conducted as per time table.
  • Tests and other assessments done; results submitted.
  • Schemes of work and lesson plans in place and implemented.
  • Signed attendance sheet for meetings.
