Purpose of the Job
To plan, develop, and implement all company marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. This includes overseeing development of support materials and brand-related initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor all category plans including activity grids and budgets.
- Develop and monitor strategic plans for consumer, professional, and export divisions in liaison with relevant heads of departments.
- Develop and implement the Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
- Manage all marketing support materials including development, procurement, and distribution.
- Design and deliver effective marketing campaigns across digital and traditional platforms.
- Screen incoming marketing proposals and escalate only those aligned to strategy.
- Follow up on all new product developments including packaging.
- Conduct research into new product category development.
- Launch and maintain company website content.
- Design and develop the Brand Manual.
- Liaise with the Head of Innovation monthly to review strategic marketing and brand plans.
- Serve as the first point of contact for marketing vendors.
- Coordinate with departments to resolve client queries promptly.
- Compile and submit mandatory reports as required.
- Conduct monthly marketing review meetings and follow up on action points.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding salaries, performance, pricing, and strategic plans.
- Work closely with the Head of Sales on tactical marketing plans.
- Foster relationships with marketing partners, agencies, media houses, and customers.
- Keep up with new marketing technologies and trends.
- Support development of the marketing team and promote best practice.
Key Competencies & Skills
- Experience in designing and executing marketing, communications, and PR activities.
- Ability to work strategically with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Strong understanding of brand protection and value building.
- Understanding of the Ugandan and regional security industry.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in overseeing design and production of print materials and publications.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Marketing), Bachelor of International Business (Marketing), Bachelor of Business Commerce (Marketing) MBA with a bias in Marketing is an added advantage
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Marketing.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent Customer Care skills
- High level of self‑motivation and drive.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy in word processing, database management, page layout, digital platforms, and graphic design tools.
Quality, Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in ensuring departmental compliance with the OH&S management system.
- Address health and safety issues raised by staff promptly.
- Implement operational controls for hazards and risks arising from departmental activities.
- Review proposed changes with QHSE before altering processes or services.
- Participate in scheduled management reviews of the OH&S system.
- Ensure personal safety and the safety of others affected by your work.
- Use protective equipment provided by the company.
- Comply with all company health and safety procedures.
- Report any accidents or injuries occurring during work.
- Co‑operate with the company to meet statutory health and safety requirements.
