POSITION: Banking Assistant -IT.

Reports to: Banking Officer- IT.
Duty Station: Head Office, Kampala.
Grade: Banking Assistant
Job Purpose.
The Banking Assistant -IT Shall assist in Installing software, assisting other staff members in resolving IT issues preparing notes for review of users in system, liaise with vendors/Data center for quick resolution of issues with our core banking system and other software.
Job Responsibilities
- Testing compatibility of new programs with existing programs.
- Provide support for end-user devices, operating systems, printers, mobile devices, and standard business applications.
- Assist users with password resets, account unlocks, access requests, and other application support.
- Support remote and on-site troubleshooting using approved tools and procedures.
- Monitor system alerts, outages, and performance issues, escalating critical incidents promptly
- Assist in preparing MIS and data reports, service level compliance, and incident trends.
- Support problem management efforts by identifying recurring issues and contributing to root cause analysis.
- Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and service improvement initiatives
- Stay updated with new technologies and best practices relevant to end-user support
Implement security standards in the Bank. - Ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and standards.
- Confirms program objectives and specifications by testing new programs, and comparing programs with established standards
- Evaluates vendor-supplied software by studying user objectives, testing software compatibility with existing hardware and programs.
Places software into production by loading software and hardware into computer and entering necessary commands.
Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Ensure compliance of regulatory and banking policies and guidelines in IT functions.
- Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor as per the need of business.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer science or information Technology or Business computing or any other technology related field
EXPERIENCE
• Two (2) years working experience in a Bank/Financial institution is a MUST in Information technology field
TECHINICAL COMPETENCES
- Up to date Knowledge of methodologies and trends in both business and IT or IT security.
- Suitable basic knowledge in IT information security is a must
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCES
• Highly organized person, with ability to multitask with ease, Leadership skills, Integrity, Team player, Emotional intelligence skills.
PHYSICAL DEMAND OF THE JOB
• The job requires long sitting hours of various system reviews.
Age
• Preferably below 40 years. However, Management reserves the right for determining the age criteria even below /above 40 years keeping in view the experience/qualifications, etc.
