Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITY
Business and Financial performance
- Define the overall product strategy and roadmap for consumer, SME and commercial banking, aligned with the affiliate’s strategic objectives.
- Lead the product management function, overseeing product managers responsible for deposits, lending, payments, cards, digital channels and other offerings.
- Identify market opportunities, customer needs and competitive gaps through research, analytics and customer feedback.
- Develop business cases, product concepts and value propositions for new products and enhancements.
- Work with cross-functional teams including marketing, digital, operations, risk and IT to design, develop and launch products on time and within budget.
Customer Excellence
- Manage product life cycles from ideation, development, pricing, positioning, launch, performance tracking and phase-out.
- Ensure products comply with regulatory requirements and internal risk and governance standards.
- Develop pricing strategies balancing customer value, competitiveness and profitability.
- Monitor product performance metrics such as sales volumes, revenue, customer adoption, NPS and profitability.
- Continuously improve existing products based on market trends, customer insights and competitor analysis.
Leadership and people management
- Lead portfolio rationalisation to eliminate underperforming or redundant products and optimise resource allocation.
- Coordinate with segment heads to ensure products meet the needs of target customer segments and drive cross-sell opportunities.
- Champion a culture of innovation, experimentation and rapid prototyping within the product team.
- Embed digital capabilities and user experience principles into product design and delivery.
- Manage relationships with external partners such as fintechs, card schemes, processors and technology vendors to enhance product features and distribution.
Process, control and operational performance
- Provide product training and sales toolkits to distribution teams to enable effective selling and customer servicing.
- Ensure robust product governance, documentation and risk assessments are completed for all products.
- Collaborate with finance to forecast product revenues, manage budgets and track financial performance.
- Drive adoption of agile product development methodologies and data-driven decision making.
- Represent the product function at affiliate and regional forums, ensuring alignment with group product strategy.
Strategic initiatives
- Prepare and present product updates, roadmaps and performance reports to leadership.
- Foster talent development within the product team through coaching, mentoring and career progression opportunities.
- Promote sustainability, ESG considerations and financial inclusion in product design and development.
- Manage product-related incidents, customer feedback and complaints to continuously improve offerings.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments, technology advancements and industry trends to future-proof the product portfolio.
Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 8–10 years of product management experience in financial services.
