Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum (UYAHF) is a legally registered organisation whose mandate is to provide, equip and inspire adolescents and young people (10-30 years) in Uganda with high quality, high impact and gender sensitive sexual reproductive health information and services. UYAHF’s program interventions also emphasize inclusiveness, non-discrimination and anti-stigma with an aim of bringing forth and raising the voices and needs of all young people and youths including the marginalised ones such as those living and affected by HIV & AIDS, TB, Malaria and GBV survivors, etc. to be heard and integrated in program and decision-making processes that matter to their health and well-being. In addition, the organisation’s programming and interventions promote gender equity and equality, through advocacy for the respect of women and girls’ rights, prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, and elimination of all harmful practices including child marriages, female genital mutilation (FGM) that undermine the dignity of girls and exposes them to violence and stigma.

German Doctors e.V. (“GD”) is a non-profit, charitable association with legal capacity registered with the Bonn district court. German Doctors is dedicated to providing medical care to vulnerable populations worldwide, with a strong programmatic focus on primary health care (PHC) and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), with the focus on patients with no or low income who have no adequate access to medical care. One main component of the GD projects are deployments of doctors on voluntary basis for 6-weeks. GD is active in seven countries worldwide (India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Greece and Uganda).

With funding from the German Doctors e.V, UYAHF is going to implement a one (1) year project titled “Integrated Community Health Support Project – Nakivale” in Nakivale Refugee Settlement located in Isingiro District- South Uganda. The project will run from 1st July 2026 to 30th June 2027. This project aims at improving access, utilization, and quality of preventive and curative

POSITION: DRIVER – 1 VACANCY

Location: Nakivale Refugee Settlement – Isingiro District

Reports to: Project Coordinator

Responsible for: None

Job Summary: Support the project work through driving of project officials, partners and stakeholder to and from project work. Support the project team through making errands and deliveries as directed

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The driver will be responsible for;

  1. Providing transport service to Project staff, visitors and stakeholders as may be assigned.
  2. Ensuring that project vehicle policy is strictly adhered to in vehicle management.
  3. Keeping assigned vehicle clean and insuring that it is properly handled, kept in good condition and usable at all times.
  4. Implementing daily, weekly, and monthly vehicle maintenance checks and work with the administration manager to have all vehicles maintained in a safe working condition.
  5. Ensuring that the vehicle has enough fuel before embarking on transport service or heading for a field trip.
  6. Keeping correct/proper and neatly recorded vehicle log sheets and submit to the supervisor on monthly basis for review, checking and feedback.
  7. Ensuring that the vehicle is used for the intended/assigned purpose in accordance with the prior authorisation given by the supervisor.
  8. Reporting in writing on any maintenance need (minor/major) to the supervisor timely and accurately.
  9. Reporting any accident immediately to the supervisor as appropriate.
  10. Ensuring that the car is equipped with First Aid kit at all times
  11. Following-up vehicle related issues with the police and insurance companies as per instructions,
  12. Delivering messages/post to other offices as per instructions.
  13. Assuming other relevant responsibilities as instructed by supervisor.

 

PERSON QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS.

  • A minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education or equivalent.
  • A clean and valid driver’s License.
  • Previous Driving Experience of 3-6 years – preferably with NGO or reputable organizations.
  • Ability to communicate, write and read English.
  • Experience of basic auto mechanic skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills to keep track of deliveries and stay on schedule.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external clients.
