Fixed Income Dealer- Dyer & Blair Uganda Limited

Dyer & Blair Uganda Limited, a leading investment banking and securities brokerage firm, is seeking a highly motivated, competent, and results-driven professional to join its team.

Key Responsibilities
1. Primary Market – Government Securities Auctions

  • Monitor the Bank of Uganda auction calendar and provide weekly updates to management.
  • Prepare and submit client auction participation applications within required deadlines.
  • Communicate auction results and client allotments promptly after auction close.
  • Coordinate settlement of successful bids with Operations within required settlement timelines.

2. Primary Market – Corporate Bond Placements
Support placement of corporate bonds and MTN programmes with investors. Maintain investor subscription and commitment trackers.

  • Follow up with clients on subscription forms and payment completion.
  • Liaise with Operations to ensure smooth settlement of corporate bond allocations.

3. Secondary Market Trading

  • Execute client buy and sell orders for government securities and listed corporate bonds on the Uganda Securities Exchange.
  • Provide indicative pricing on fixed income securities upon client request. Ensure best execution on all client transactions.
  • Record all trades accurately and promptly in the broker back-office system.

4. Client Relationship Management

  • Maintain regular engagement with fixed income clients (minimum monthly contact)
  • Advise clients on auctions, new issuances, and portfolio rebalancing opportunities
  • Distribute weekly fixed income market updates prepared by Research Identify reinvestment and cross-selling opportunities for maturing client positions
  • Escalate significant client redemptions or withdrawals to management in a timely manner

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • CISI International Introduction to Securities & Investment (Paper 1) – Mandatory CISI Regulations and Market Practice (Paper 2) – Mandatory
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in fixed income trading, treasury, stockbroking, investment analysis, or capital markets.
  • Strong understanding of securities markets and investment products
  • Strong analytical, communication, and client relationship management skills
