Job Title: HIV Prevention Advisor
Reports to: Technical Director
Directly Supervises: None
Job Purpose:
The HIV prevention advisor will work in collaboration with the program teams to ensure technical soundness of the HIV Prevention, HTS and PMTCT/EID/MNCH program. She/he will provide technical oversight for lifesaving HIV prevention, HTS and PMTCT/EID/MNCH services to eligible clients within the project and surrounding communities.
Duties and responsibilities.
- Coordinate strategic planning and implementation of strategies aligned to provision of quality HIV prevention including hotspot mapping, screening for and linkage to PrEP (Oral and Injectable) for high-risk populations in the project settings, PrEP continuity, Risk reduction counseling and PEP.
- Coordinate targeted high yield HIV testing Interventions at facility and community level including PITC, ICT and APN, HIV Self testing, and linkage to HIV care and treatment Interventions.
- Coordinate efforts for improved uptake of PrEP in MCH, Maternal testing/retesting, EID testing and ART management for pregnant & Lactating mothers and their exposed infants.
- Coordinate program and site team implementation of Integrated MNCH/PMTCT/EPI/EID outreaches in project and surrounding communities.
- Work with the Community team to ensure standardized appointment tracking & Return to Care systems, Treatment literacy & PSS support for pregnant & Lactating mother in care.
- Work with the Community team to conduct outreaches to high-risk communities for HIV testing, PrEP eligibility screening, initiation and refilling, prevention literacy and risk reduction counseling among others.
- Support Viral load & quality of care monitoring and Viral load non-suppression/treatment failure management for pregnant and Lactating mothers in care.
- Work with the logistics advisor and field teams to ensure optimal availability of PrEP medicines, ARVs for pregnant and lactating mothers and exposed infants and HIV testing kits, through accurate quantification and ordering.
- Participate in routine data analysis, performance review and data usage to inform quality improvement initiatives for HIV Prevention, HTS and PMTCT/EID/MNCH
- Spearhead development of concepts, costed work plans and Activity reports as per stipulated timelines.
- Contribute to documentation of HIV Prevention, HTS and MNCH/PMTCT/EID best learnings, success stories and abstracts.
- Perform any other duties as assigned or coordinated by the supervisor
Job Qualification/ Requirement:
- Bachelor of Medicine & General Surgery or Diploma in Clinical Medicine with Project management/Masters in Public Health as an added advantage
- Recent work experience of a minimum of five years with HIV/TB programs
- Willingness to work and travel in rural settings in Uganda.
- Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
- Computer proficiency in word, excel and power point
