In line with our continued growth, we are seeking a competent and results-oriented professional to join our team as Agricultural Engineering Lead.

 

 Job Purpose

The Agricultural Engineering Lead will provide strategic and technical leadership to the agricultural engineering function, with responsibility for growing irrigation and mechanization services, delivering high-quality engineering solutions to farmers and customers, and ensuring efficient utilization of engineering resources. The position also oversees engineering project delivery, technical sales support, machinery management and customer satisfaction.

 Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the design, installation, testing and commissioning of irrigation systems.
  • Conduct technical assessments and develop appropriate irrigation and mechanization solutions for farmers and commercial clients.
  • Prepare technical proposals, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), quotations and project cost estimates.
  • Support business development and technical sales for irrigation, mechanization, and other agricultural engineering services.
  • Plan and coordinate tractor and mechanization services, including equipment utilization, maintenance, and service delivery.
  • Supervise Irrigation Engineers, Tractor Operators, and other agricultural engineering personnel.
  • Monitor engineering project implementation, quality, timelines, costs, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure proper management and accountability for engineering tools, equipment, machinery, and materials.
  • Promote compliance with engineering, occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Identify and introduce appropriate technologies and improvements to strengthen engineering service delivery.

 Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Agricultural Mechanization, or a related engineering discipline.
  • A Project Management qualification or certification will be an added advantage.

 Experience

Applicants should have:

  • At least five (5) years of progressive experience in agricultural engineering, irrigation systems, mechanized agriculture, or agricultural infrastructure.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and installing irrigation systems.
  • Experience managing agricultural machinery and engineering teams.
  • Experience providing technical support to farmers and agribusiness clients.
  • Experience in technical sales or engineering project management will be an added advantage.

 Key Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong capability in:

  • Irrigation system design and hydraulic calculations.
  • Preparation of BOQs, quotations and technical proposals.
  • Agricultural machinery and mechanization management.
  • Engineering project supervision and technical reporting.
  • Team leadership, coaching and performance management.
  • Planning, problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Customer service and commercial awareness.
  • Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar engineering design software will be an added advantage.
