Position: Biomedical Technician
Location: Ntinda, Kampala, Uganda
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and calibration of medical equipment such as oxygen
concentrators, hospital beds, wheelchairs, and other devices in our rental inventory. - Conduct inspections and testing to ensure equipment complies with safety standards and
regulatory requirements in Uganda. - Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues with biomedical devices, both on-site and in the
workshop. - Install and train clients (patients and healthcare providers) on the proper use and
maintenance of rented equipment. - Maintain accurate records of equipment servicing, inventory, and repair logs using digital
tracking systems. - Collaborate with suppliers and vendors for parts procurement and warranty claims.
- Support the operations team in preparing equipment for rentals and ensuring timely
delivery and pickup. - Stay updated on advancements in biomedical technology and recommend improvements to
our equipment portfolio.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum: Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Equipment Technology or a
closely related technical field. - At least 2–4 years of practical experience in biomedical equipment maintenance, repair, or
servicing (hospital, clinic, or equipment company setting preferred). - Registration or certification with relevant bodies (e.g., Allied Health Professionals Council or
equivalent) is an advantage. - Hands-on knowledge of common medical devices and basic troubleshooting tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety.
- Good communication for client training and team coordination.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Kampala and nearby areas.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a small team.
