Call for proposals – Sport, Inclusion and Francophonie 2027 (French Embassy in Uganda)

Call for proposals – Sport, Inclusion and Francophonie 2027 (French Embassy in Uganda)

The French Embassy in Uganda invites applications from local organisations to promote Olympic values through sport.

Sport is a powerful tool for bringing people together, promoting equal opportunities and empowering individuals and communities. By fostering excellence, respect, inclusion and solidarity, sport can help young people develop their potential, strengthen social cohesion and encourage active citizenship.

In the run-up to the French Alps 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and in line with France’s Terre de Jeux 2030 initiative, the French Embassy in Uganda is launching a call for Proposals to support local initiatives promoting Olympic values through sport.

The initiative aims to strengthen the role of sport as a driver of youth empowerment, women’s leadership, gender equality and social inclusion. Particular attention will be paid to projects that encourage girls’ participation in sport, promote women’s leadership, include vulnerable or underrepresented groups, and foster intercultural dialogue and solidarity.

A strong connection with Francophonie is expected. The French Embassy will favour projects integrating the French language or demonstrate a link with Francophonie, its values and its networks. Initiatives may also be incorporated into the activities planned by the French Embassy and its partners for the 2027 Month of Francophonie, from late February to late March 2027.

Through this call, the French Embassy seeks to support locally driven initiatives, strengthen Franco-Ugandan partnerships in sport, youth engagement and gender equality, and promote sport as a means of human development and social transformation.

Selection criteria

Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • Olympic values: promotion of excellence, respect, inclusion and solidarity through sport.
