JOB DESCRIPTION – CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER

1. JOB PURPOSE:
The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) is responsible for leading Savanna PayPulse Limited’s commercial strategy, revenue growth, customer acquisition, distribution, agent and merchant network development, partnerships and market expansion.
The CCO will develop and execute strategies to grow the Company’s customer base, transaction volumes, revenues and market presence across SavMoney and other approved digital financial services. The role will ensure that commercial growth is achieved sustainably and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, approved product parameters, customer protection requirements, internal policies and the Company’s risk appetite.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Commercial Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and implement the Company’s commercial strategy and growth plan.
- Establish revenue, customer acquisition, transaction volume and market-share targets.
- Identify new commercial opportunities, customer segments and distribution channels.
- Develop strategies for sustainable revenue growth and customer retention.
- Provide commercial leadership and direction to the sales and business-development teams.
- Monitor market trends, customer behaviour and competitor activity.
B. Customer Acquisition and Growth
- Lead customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Develop strategies for individual, merchant and business customer acquisition.
- Drive customer activation, usage and transaction frequency.
- Develop customer segmentation and targeted commercial strategies.
- Monitor customer acquisition costs, customer lifetime value and commercial performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience and product adoption.
C. Agent and Merchant Network Development
- Develop and execute the Company’s agent and merchant network strategy.
- Set targets for agent and merchant acquisition, activation, productivity and retention.
- Identify strategic locations and market segments for network expansion.
- Develop commercial programmes to improve agent and merchant productivity.
- Monitor agent and merchant performance and recommend corrective action.
- Ensure commercial activities are consistent with approved onboarding and compliance requirements.
D. Sales and Distribution
- Lead sales and distribution activities across the Company’s approved channels.
- Develop sales targets, incentives and performance-management frameworks.
- Establish effective distribution strategies for SavMoney products and services.
- Monitor sales performance and conversion rates.
- Ensure sales teams and distribution partners understand approved products, pricing and customer requirements.
- Prevent inappropriate sales practices and ensure customer-facing commercial activities are conducted responsibly.
E. Partnerships and Business Development
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with banks, merchants, corporates, institutions, payment partners and other relevant organisations.
- Lead commercial negotiations within approved authority.
- Develop partnership proposals and business cases.
- Monitor commercial performance of strategic partnerships.
- Identify opportunities for integrations and embedded payment solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with key commercial stakeholders.
F. Products, Pricing and Revenue
- Work with Product, Operations, Finance, Technology and Risk & Compliance teams on product development and commercialisation.
- Develop pricing and revenue strategies based on market conditions and approved business objectives.
- Monitor product profitability and transaction economics.
- Recommend pricing adjustments and commercial initiatives.
- Ensure commercial proposals are supported by appropriate financial, operational and risk analysis.
- Monitor the performance of individual products and customer segments.
G. Market Intelligence and Competitor Analysis
- Conduct regular market and competitor analysis.
- Monitor developments in mobile money, fintech, payments and digital financial services.
- Identify emerging customer needs and commercial opportunities.
- Benchmark Savanna PayPulse Limited’s products, pricing and distribution against the market.
- Provide Management with recommendations on market positioning and growth opportunities.
H. Commercial Risk and Compliance
- Ensure commercial activities comply with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
- Work with Risk & Compliance to ensure customer acquisition, promotions, pricing and sales practices meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensure appropriate controls exist to prevent mis-selling, misleading representations and inappropriate customer acquisition practices.
- Escalate material commercial, reputational or customer risks.
- Ensure commercial teams comply with approved KYC, AML/CFT, consumer protection and product requirements.
I. Commercial Reporting
- Establish commercial dashboards and performance reports.
- Report customer growth, transaction volumes, revenue, sales performance, agent/merchant performance and market development to Management.
- Monitor performance against commercial budgets and targets.
- Escalate material underperformance and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide commercial forecasts and business-development reports.

4. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
A. Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Economics, Finance or a related field.
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or a related field is desirable.
B. Professional Qualifications
Professional qualification in one or more of the following is desirable:
- Chartered Institute of Marketing or equivalent.
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Certified Payments Professional or relevant fintech qualification.
- Digital marketing, sales or business-development certification.
C. Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years’ relevant commercial, sales or business-development experience, with at least 5 years in a senior commercial leadership role.
- Experience in one or more of the following sectors is preferred:
- Fintech
- Mobile Money
- Telecommunications
- Banking
- Payment Services
- Financial Services
- Proven experience growing digital financial services, mobile money or payment products.
- Strong experience managing agent, merchant or distribution networks.
- Experience negotiating strategic partnerships and commercial agreements.
- Experience in a regulated financial or telecommunications environment is highly desirable.

6. AUTHORITY:
The Chief Commercial Officer shall have appropriate authority, within approved delegations and budgets, to lead commercial activities, negotiate approved commercial opportunities, manage sales and distribution resources and implement approved customer and revenue-growth initiatives.
Commercial activities shall remain subject to approved product governance, pricing approvals, financial controls, risk-management requirements and applicable regulatory obligations.
