About the role:
We are looking for a Credit Team Leader who will coordinate and manage a team of Credit Relationship
Officers through rapid growth and continuous change. They will play a crucial role in annual planning and
steering team performance.

Responsibilities:
Performance management

  • Ensure that the growing team, consisting of 10-20 CROs, is adequately performing again
    targets.
  • Train and develop new hires & direct reports, including monthly one-on-one sessions and
    collective team training.
  • Implement performance management processes aligned with company efforts
  • Monitor key metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure the team is on track and the
    portfolio is in good standing.
  • Work with the team to ensure new clients and referral targets are being hit or exceeded
  • Proactively analyse and evaluate portions of the portfolio that need additional attention.

Quality assurance of portfolio & credit decision-making

  •  Help develop credit policies document and drive policy improvements
  • Ensure the team is following the credit policies and procedures across all levels, including proper
    risk management and loan monitoring by advising and overseeing the team
  • Maintain oversight of dismissed customers and ensure dismissals are warranted
  • Execute final review and disbursement of loans less than 1.5M in value

Cross functional support

  • Collaborate with the Product team and participating in various experiments that aim to improve
    the quality of Numida’s service and/or the efficiency of the CRO role
  • Support company initiatives towards implementing our strategy, improving our culture and
    maintaining a positive work environment
  • Lead team initiatives as requested by management

Your Profile:

  • 3+ years of experience in a credit officer or related role
  • This role is reserved for someone who has prior experience in credit and leading teams in rapid
    growth
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microfinance, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field from an
    accredited University
  • Experience and strong track record as people manager
  • Proficient in computer – you are experienced with desktop productivity software like Google
    Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs etc.
  • Fluency in Eastern Ugandan languages is required, and candidates must be located in or willing to
    relocate to Mbale, Eastern Uganda.
  • Thorough understanding of credit risk management
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of empathy – you are patient enough to truly listen to
    and understand the individual and Team needs

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Number of clients acquired
  • Number of clients retained
  • Loan amounts in disbursement
  • Loan amounts collected
  • Nil bad loans/write offs
