A Brief on the Company
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a public Limited Company, fully
owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda and holds the following operational licences. System Operator, Operation of the High Voltage Transmission Grid, Bulk Power Supply, Import and Export of Power and; Public Infrastructure Provider (for ownership and operation of the Optic Fibre).
UETCL invites applications from suitable and eligible candidates to fill the position of:
Job title : Electrical Technician
Department : Network Operations and Maintenance
Reports to : Maintenance Engineer (Substations)
Job Purpose
To inspect, maintain, test, and repair high-voltage substation equipment under the direct supervision of a maintenance engineer (substations)
Key Result Areas
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on substation equipment, including transformers, switchgear, AVRs, and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of substation equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on transformers, switchgears, and other electrical equipment.
- Manage inventory of replacement parts and tools, ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Document and report on maintenance activities including repairs and inspections conducted
- Respond to emergency outages and equipment failures, working to restore power as quickly as possible.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards in all maintenance activities.
Person Specifications, Experience and Competences
- Must possess either a National Diploma or a Higher Diploma in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Must have at least two (02) years of relevant experience in maintaining high-voltage power transformers and switchgear.
- Specialized training in high-voltage equipment maintenance will be an added advantage
- Willingness to work extended hours when required
- A person of integrity, highly motivated, innovative, proactive, and a committed team

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND REMUNERATION
The successful candidate will be offered a contract subject to the Ministry of Public Service
Guidelines on the Rationalization Exercise of Government Institutions.
