GENERATOR ENGINEER

Job Title: Generator Engineer

Job Purpose

Info-code consults is seeking to hire for our client a generator engineer to provide technical expertise in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of generators, ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient operation for customers.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Install, commission, test, and maintain generators and associated electrical and mechanical systems.
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot generator faults and determine appropriate corrective actions.
3. Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on generators according to manufacturer recommendations and company schedules.
4. Inspect generator engines, alternators, control panels, batteries, cooling systems, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and other components.
5. Conduct generator load testing and performance assessments to ensure equipment operates within required specifications.
6. Prepare generators for installation by assessing site requirements, power demand, space, ventilation, cabling, fuel systems, and other technical requirements.
7. Supervise generator installation and ensure proper connection to electrical distribution systems.
8. Conduct routine servicing, repairs, overhauls, and replacement of defective components.
9. Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
10. Provide technical advice to customers on generator selection, operation, maintenance, and energy requirements.
11. Prepare technical reports, service reports, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
12. Conduct site assessments and prepare technical recommendations for generator installations.
13. Ensure all generator installations and repairs comply with applicable safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures.
14. Respond promptly to customer breakdowns and technical service requests.
15. Perform any other engineering or technical duties assigned by management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Generator installation and commissioning completion rate.
• Generator uptime and reliability.
• Response time to breakdowns and service requests.
• First-time fault resolution rate.
• Accuracy and timely submission of technical reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant professional registration or certification is an added advantage.
• At least 2years of experience working with electrical systems, industrial machinery, or related equipment.
• Practical experience in generator installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, control panels, ATS systems, and electrical distribution systems is highly desirable.
