On behalf of our client in the FMCG Sector, we are looking for competent and experienced Engineering Stores -Maintenance Controller to be based in Kampala.

Reports To: Asset Care Specialist

Number of Positions: One (1)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.

Job Summary: The Engineering Stores -Maintenance Controller is responsible for the safe, efficient, and well-organized management of the Mechanical Engineering Store within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. The role ensures the timely availability, proper storage, issuance, and movement of engineering tools, spare parts, equipment, and materials required to support production and maintenance operations. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to store procedures, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, security, and inventory control. The Store Controller also identifies opportunities to improve store organisation, stock management, and operational efficiency to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure day to day safe and efficient running of the mechanical engineering store.
• Check and inspect all tools are available and maintained in the correct place and that all equipment is suitable for working condition.
• Maintain a high degree of product knowledge on all equipment and ensure housekeeping, safety and security procedures are followed in the store.
• Ensure proper documentation of deliveries and approved delivery notes
• Maintain an orderly storage and retrieval system utilizing first in, first out principles.
• Responsible for engineering store organization and cleanliness.
• Maintain accurate inventory records. Research discrepancies and work with necessary parties to correct.
• Ensure that the engineering store rules are followed and the correct re-issue and sign out procedure is followed when applicable.
• Fully trained to operate all required material handling equipment to ensure safe movement of product to the appropriate work centre and/ or building without the part incurring damage.
• Conduct brief visual inspection of the product for any obvious damage (dents, dings, scratches, etc.) before moving from any of the outgoing shelves.
• If damage is present, the engineer store in charge will immediately notify the respective Supervisor of the area.
• If damage occurs during the movement/transportation of the item, the store engineer in charge will immediately notify his/her own supervisor.
• Proficient in lean exercises and make recommendations to improve the organization of the store floor and expand visual control systems.
• Knowledgeable of Paradigm Precision procedures responsible for keeping all racks and material handling equipment in good safe working condition and clean of dust and foreign objects.
• Performs any other task as maybe assigned by the line manager

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• A minimum of a diploma in mechanical engineering or any other relevant discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment preferably in FMCG Environment.
• SAP experience/knowledge upfront is key requirement for the role.
• FMCH (Sidel,Water Systems,Husky,SACMI etc) Supplier network.
• Engineering Stores Controller with experience/exposure to FMCG OEM Suppliers
• Experience in Production maintenance planning or maintenance execution an added advantage

Key Requirements:

• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
