We are seeking dynamic, committed, and result-oriented Credit Officers to join our team and support our operations
in the Eastern Region of Uganda.
Job Purpose
The Credit Officer will be responsible for mobilizing clients, assessing loan applications, disbursing and monitoring
loans, following up on repayments, managing client relationships, and ensuring that the assigned loan portfolio is
maintained in accordance with Uzima Microfinance Uganda Limited’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1 Mobilize and recruit new clients in accordance with the company’s business and credit guidelines.
2 Conduct client identification, appraisal, verification, and assessment of loan applications.
3 Conduct field visits to clients’ homes, businesses, workplaces, and groups as required.
4 Prepare accurate loan appraisal reports and submit loan applications for approval.
5 Explain loan products, terms, conditions, repayment schedules, and other requirements to clients.
6 Process approved loans and ensure proper documentation before disbursement.
7 Monitor the performance of the assigned loan portfolio and ensure timely repayments.
8 Conduct regular follow-up with clients with outstanding or overdue repayments.
9 Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and loan records.
10 Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and community groups.
11 Identify and report potential credit risks, portfolio challenges, fraud indicators, and other irregularities.
12 Participate in client meetings, group meetings, branch activities, and community mobilisation.
13 Support the branch in achieving assigned targets for portfolio growth, client acquisition, collections, and loan
quality.
Minimum Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or institution of higher learning.
• Training or academic background in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Commerce,
Microfinance, Development Studies, or a related field is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in microfinance, banking, credit, sales, field operations, or loan recovery will be an added
advantage.
• Good communication, interpersonal, customer-service, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in the field and interact with clients from different backgrounds.
• Ability to work with targets and meet deadlines.
• Good numerical, analytical, and record-keeping skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Must be willing and able to work in different locations within Eastern Uganda.
