Job Description

• Execute end to end microbiological testing to verify product safety, hygiene, and process compliance across the facility.
• Collect water, liquid, and air samples to test for yeast, mold, coliforms, and total plate counts using standard laboratory methods.
• Maintain complete laboratory records and test integrity to support internal operations and regulatory audit readiness.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Collect water, liquid, and air samples across designated production areas using validated aseptic procedures.
• Prepare culture media, reagents, and agar plates in accordance with strict laboratory specifications.
• Test samples for yeast, mold, coliforms, and total plate counts to evaluate microbial quality.
• Operate and verify laboratory incubators, instruments, reference materials, and testing equipment prior to use.
• Maintain legible, traceable, and timely records of all test results, machine settings, and inspection logs.
• Identify, document, and contain non conforming materials or test deviations, resisting pressure to release product prematurely.
• Participate in root cause investigations for microbial deviations and assist in verifying corrective actions.
• Support readiness for UNBS, customer, and internal food safety audits by maintaining organized documentation and compliant lab areas.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Food Technology, or Food Science and Technology.
• Ordinary Diploma, National Diploma, or relevant technical laboratory qualification in Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Food Processing Technology.
• Recognized science or engineering qualification in Environmental Health, Public Health, Quality Management, Packaging Technology, Agriculture, Applied Sciences, or Chemical Engineering.
• HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, food safety, internal auditor, or laboratory quality certification is preferred.

Experience

• No prior work experience required.
• Includes one month of microbiology laboratory protocol training.
