Job Description

  • Oversee end to end shift operations to ensure food manufacturing targets and equipment uptime are consistently met.
  • Supervise floor personnel, enforce hygiene and occupational safety standards, and maintain strict product quality and process discipline throughout processing shifts.
  • Coordinate cross functional shift activities and drive prompt floor level troubleshooting to prevent avoidable downtime, product waste, or compliance risks.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Allocate shift duties according to staff competence and workload, maintaining effective line coverage and thorough shift handovers.
  • Monitor real time production targets and line uptime, adjusting operating pace to resolve workflow bottlenecks and prevent delays.
  • Enforce mandatory food hygiene rules, occupational safety protocols, clean down procedures, and the correct use of personal protective equipment.
  • Troubleshoot operational disruptions, machine stoppages, and quality deviations quickly on the line, escalating unresolvable faults to technical support.
  • Ensure strict adherence to approved recipes, processing parameters, inspection frequencies, and standard operating procedures without permitting informal workarounds.
  • Maintain complete, traceable, and legible shift records, including production volumes, machine settings, downtime logs, and material consumption sheets.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality assurance, and stores personnel to ensure timely availability of materials, machine maintenance windows, and product clearance.
  • Participate in root cause investigations for recurring defects or downtime and follow through on assigned corrective and preventive actions.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Food Processing, Food Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial or Production Engineering, Operations Management, Quality Management, Agriculture, or a directly related technical discipline
  • Ordinary Diploma or technical credential in Mechanical, Electrical, Production Engineering, Food Processing, or related industrial trades combined with supervisory experience
  • Recognized UBTEB, TVET, supervisory, occupational safety, or quality management certifications, or equivalent accredited international qualifications

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience supervising shift operations in a food manufacturing or processing factory environment.
