JOB TITLE: HEAD, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
REPORTS TO: MANAGING DIRECTOR /CEO
JOB OBJECTIVE(S)
- To ensure on a daily basis that UBA Uganda has availability of information systems and communication technology.
- To facilitate the determination and co-ordination of UBA Uganda User I.T Requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
- Identify, recommend and implement key ICT business requirements and to provide a bank to a wide source of expertise on information technology and communication systems.
- Contribute to the development of the bank’s strategic and business plans in relation to ICT in order to support the bank’s mission and core objectives.
- Customize and implement the ICT policy and put in place controls to minimize IT risks and achieve better audit ratings.
- Implement and monitor the efficient and effective availability and usage of all system applications.
- Implement an efficient and effective DRP/BCP solution.
- Direct and manage IT staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and trained and carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
- Provide training and advice as required to users and IT staff on information systems to ensure that they make the best use of systems.
- Plan and organize departmental activities to ensure the timely, quality and on budget execution.
- Drive beneficial perception of ICT functions among user departments.
- Ensure proper management of outsourced ICT services.
- Proper management of Service level agreements and contracts between the bank and ICT service providers.
- Ensure proper audit coordination both internal and external audits on ICT.
- Management and control of I.T budget.
- Implement and maintain bank’s network and system security.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science and Information technology. Certifications in Microsoft systems and Cisco network systems are an added advantage.
- A Masters degree in any IT field and professional membership of ISACA is added advantage.
Experience:
- At least seven years of experience in a sophisticated IT environment within a medium-sized company, including five years in a managerial role, preferably within a Bank of Uganda supervised financial institution.
