Job Description
- Operates company or contracted delivery vehicles to transport products safely between factories, warehouses, retail outlets, distributors, and customers.
- Safeguards cargo integrity during transit by preventing theft, contamination, weather exposure, and transit damage while maintaining compliance with transport regulations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform structured pre departure vehicle inspections covering tyres, lights, mirrors, brakes, leaks, windscreens, horns, fluid levels, and overall roadworthiness.
- Report safety defects before operating vehicles and communicate breakdowns promptly without attempting unauthorized repairs.
- Check delivery manifests, invoices, and transfer paperwork against cargo to ensure accurate loading and appropriate load securing.
- Drive defensively in compliance with road traffic laws, company speed limits, and vehicle weight restrictions.
- Follow company safety rules prohibiting substance impairment and restricting mobile phone use and driver fatigue.
- Verify product handovers at customer or depot locations and collect authorized signatures or proof of delivery.
- Record vehicle mileage, fuel, departure and arrival times, deliveries, and transit incidents in trip logs.
- Protect products from theft, contamination, rain, excessive heat, and avoidable handling damage during transit.
- Maintain clean vehicle cabin and cargo compartments.

Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
- Degree, Diploma, Certificate, vocational training, Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)
- Valid driving licence for the appropriate vehicle class satisfying all legal operational requirements for heavy goods or distribution vehicles
- Defensive driving certification is an added advantage
Experience
- No prior work experience required.
- Valid legal driving competence for the assigned vehicle category is mandatory.
- Comprehensive onboarding training is provided covering routes, product handling, defensive driving, manifest control, fuel procedures, accident response, customer conduct, and vehicle checks.
