Job Description
- Maintain blade sharpness and calibrate high speed rotary cutting heads to achieve precise slice thickness for crisps and chips.
- Ensure optimal operational reliability of processing slicing equipment through systematic inspection, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
- Uphold rigorous food safety, occupational hygiene, and machine safety standards to prevent downtime and product defects.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Set slice thickness parameters and adjust rotary cutting heads to meet product specifications for crisps and chips.
- Maintain blade sharpness through regular inspection, sharpening, replacement, and precision calibration.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair slicing equipment and mechanical assemblies using technical manuals, fault codes, and condition monitoring.
- Apply strict lockout and isolation protocols on electrical, mechanical, and stored energy systems before undertaking intrusive work.
- Verify equipment guards, interlocks, alignment, calibration, and lubrication before clearing machines for production handover.
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance routines, recording early signs of wear, abnormal vibration, temperature, and leaks.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable records including maintenance histories, machine settings, inspection checklists, and shift reports.
- Coordinate with production operators to schedule maintenance windows, conduct safe test runs, and resolve equipment issues promptly.

Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
- Ordinary Diploma, National Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Automation and Control, Instrumentation, Plant Maintenance, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Technical Trade Certificate, Craft Certificate, National Certificate, or recognized TVET/UBTEB apprenticeship in Mechanical Fitting, Plant Maintenance, Machining, or related engineering trades
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience operating or maintaining precision slicing or cutting machinery.
