About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated practical professional, hands-on Project Lead who will take ownership of projects from planning to completion. You are not just a paperwork person—you are on-site, on-the-phone, and on-the-ground pushing every stage forward. You will be the lead taking charge of the master planning in relation to functionality – future proof concept design, design approvals, legal approvals, implementation, coordination of the site teams, suppliers and the external partners (GIS, Architect and external contractors) to ensure we successfully move ahead with the planned projects, from concept to implementation.
The ambitious pipeline includes 5 -10-year projections with a staged implementation plan based on priorities,
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Scheduling. Develop and maintain project timelines (using open-source project software, Excel, Gantt charts). Break down projects into clear phases and milestones.
- Approvals & Regulatory Compliance. Obtain internal company approvals, follow up and complete all approvals and liaise with local authorities and ensure all statutory requirements are met.
- Design & Consultant Coordination. Develop the needs assessments, flows and flow planning into a comprehensive master plan. Act as the primary point of contact between the internal stakeholders and hired experts like architects and contractors.
- Cost & Budget Support. Work closely with the Quantity Surveyor to track project costs vs. budget.
- Site Execution & Progress Monitoring. Implement the work planning with the internal teams – set target and measure progress in a constant manner.
- Quality & Safety. Ensure site teams adhere to safety protocols, quality standards and site sanitation.
- Handover & Commissioning (The “Finisher” Role) Ensure all testing and commissioning is done and documented.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Post graduate diploma in project planning and management is an added advantage.
- Experience:3-5 years of progressive experience in the construction industry (site experience is essential).
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with authority approval processes, NEMA requirements,
and Ugandan construction regulations.
- Soft skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be assertive enough to push consultants and site teams
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Project planning and execution, Excel, and AutoCAD and other software GIS mapping, relief, drawing, updates, etc.
