MEMBERSHIP & PROGRAMS OFFICER (CIO-CXO Digital Leadership Forum)

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Location: CIO-C×O Digital Leadership Forum, Kampala

Status: Contract / Consultancy

Experience Required: 3 to 5 years (preferably in membership, programme delivery, relations management, community engagement, or stakeholder management).

Role Summary

We are looking for a self-driven, well-connected professional with an appetite to learn, create, and implement new ideas. The Membership & Programs Officer plays a central role across the Forum’s membership growth and programme delivery. The Officer drives member recruitment, engagement, and retention, and provides the coordination and logistical support needed to deliver the Forum’s convenings, thought leadership, and programmatic activities. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the centre of Uganda’s most senior community of CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and digital leaders, engaging with government, regulators, development partners, and industry as the Forum advances the national digital-transformation agenda.

MEMBERSHIP SUPPORT FUNCTIONS

Key Responsibilities

1. Member Recruitment & Engagement

  • Drive the recruitment of new members, including senior technology and business leaders, and communicate the value of belonging to the Forum.
  • Support the onboarding of new members by collecting and updating member profiles, documents, and welcome materials.
  • Respond to member enquiries, coordinate follow-ups, and ensure timely resolution or escalation.
  • Prepare and share regular communications to members regarding events, updates, opportunities, and benefits.

2. Membership Growth, Visibility & Retention

  • Maintain and manage the Forum’s membership register and ensure accurate records of renewals, benefits, and participation.
  • Assist in designing and implementing member visibility activities (for example, member features, newsletters, and updates across the Forum’s channels).
  • Track benefit utilisation across membership categories and monitor retention, compiling suggestions to strengthen the member value proposition.

3. Member Value & Communications

  • Help shape and deliver member benefits such as access to advisory, exposure, events, and a network of experienced peers.
  • Liaise with the communications function to ensure timely publishing of member updates and visibility content on the website and social channels.
  • Coordinate and maintain member-facing materials such as welcome kits, renewal notices, and FAQs.

4. Administrative Support

  • Provide logistical and scheduling support for member visits, calls, and engagement plans.
  • Support the implementation of surveys and evaluations to gather member feedback and satisfaction data.
  • Maintain a calendar of membership activities and ensure timely preparation of documentation and reports.

PROGRAMS SUPPORT FUNCTIONS

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Operations & Coordination

  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of the Forum’s programmes, convenings, roundtables, and the Awards.
  • Support programme scheduling, venue booking, speaker coordination, and participant registration.
  • Collect and compile attendance records, evaluation feedback, and post-activity documentation.

2. Programme Records & Reporting

  • Maintain organised records of programme concept notes, budgets, and reports in accordance with the Forum’s documentation protocols.
  • Support the Programmes Lead with internal reporting templates and monthly progress summaries for partners and funders.
  • Assist in tracking programme deliverables and reporting obligations to partners and funders.

3. Research, Learning & Content Support

  • Monitor sector news, technology publications, and partner programmes to support programme learning and content.
  • Maintain a repository of case studies, success stories, and highlights from the Forum’s activities.
  • Support the preparation of learning briefs, dashboards, and thought-leadership content in collaboration with the Programmes Lead and partners.

4. Stakeholder & Partner Coordination

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to consultants, speakers, and partners engaged by the Forum, including scheduling meetings and sharing background materials.
  • Support engagement with government, regulators, and development partners around the Forum’s programmes.
  • Coordinate deliverables and follow-ups arising from programme engagements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in membership, relations management, programme delivery, community engagement, or stakeholder management.
  • Experience working in or with technology-focused environments, associations, innovation hubs, or the digital ecosystem is an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a professional and engaging communication style.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear reports, event briefs, and member updates.
  • Comfortable coordinating multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A network across government, the private sector, or the technology industry is an added advantage.
  • Tech-savvy, with solid knowledge of the MS Office Suite (especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with CRM tools, Canva, or Google Workspace is a bonus.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • A proactive team player with a positive attitude, professional integrity, and a willingness to learn.
