Office Assistant – MKOPA Uganda

Office Assistant – MKOPA Uganda

The Role

As Office Assistant, you keep the Kampala office (Aponye Mall, Burton Street) running day to day across the front office, supplies, premises, events and compliance. You report to the Workplaces Lead and work on site in a contract position

About Us

M-KOPA has grown to 10 million customers across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, extending over $2 billion in credit to people building better lives one asset at a time. 86% of our customers report improved satisfaction, and 55% are accessing formal financial services for the first time through us. Behind that scale sits a network of over 35,000 field agents and 2,300+ employees, all working toward one goal: helping Every Day Earners own more, faster.

This is a on-site role, you would be working from our offices in Uganda, partnering with a diverse group of employees from our different markets and locations across the UK, Europe and Africa. You will be reporting to the Workplaces Lead.

What You’ll Do

  • Front office, premises and events: Cover reception, welcome visitors and keep the visitor log. Support staff travel and logistics bookings, set up meeting rooms, maintain the look and feel of the office, and manage catering and staff events.
  • Procurement and supplies: Check existing stock before requesting any item, then raise purchase orders and follow them to received state on the system, amending rejected or error-flagged POs promptly. Receive, store and record vendor samples and deliveries, coordinate work tool deliveries for staff, and liaise with Procurement on purchase, repair and maintenance requests.
  • Compliance and reporting: Keep company licences and office rent payments up to date, tracking every expiry and renewal date in a calendar. Submit a daily log, weekly summary and monthly summary of work done, blockers and support needed, and take on other tasks as assigned by the hiring manager.

What You’ll Need

  • A diploma in Business Administration, Office Management, Procurement, Supply Chain or a related field, plus one to two years of office administration or procurement support experience. Experience raising and tracking purchase orders, or a degree, is an advantage but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Teams, and the ability to use a purchase order system and keep accurate stock and delivery records.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with vendors and staff, and discretion with confidential information.

The honest part

This role rewards follow-through more than any single technical skill. You will juggle competing requests, and accurate records matter. You will see tasks through without being chased. Standard office hours apply, with occasional work outside hours for staff events.
