KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functional Responsibilities
The Plant Operator I (Powertrain and EE Systems) is responsible for the end-to-end mechanical and electrical integration of the Vehicle Powertrain and EE Systems, ensuring the complete integration, routing, configuration, and validation of all Powertrain and Electrics/Electronic (EE) systems across the Chassis and Trim Production Lines. From mounting high-voltage batteries, drive motors, and thermal management systems, to the precise termination of complex HV/LV wiring harnesses and calibration of onboard control units, this role ensures all components function seamlessly as a unified architecture. The Operator guarantees that all hardware integration, fluid filling, and diagnostic testing activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict accordance with approved engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules prior to vehicle handover to Quality Inspection and Testing (QIT). Specifically, the Plant Operator II is responsible for:
1.1 Powertrain & High-Voltage Integration: Execute the installation and integration of the motor drive, battery trays, High-Voltage (HV) battery modules, auxiliary batteries, and Motor Controller Units into the chassis frame. Perform the precise termination and grounding of HV battery accessories, cables, and charging port compartments.
1.2 HV/LV Harness Routing & Integration: Route, integrate, and test Low-Voltage (LV) underbody harnesses (including ABS, ECAS, VCU, and CAN harnesses) and High-Voltage harnesses across the bus body and chassis. Install specific interior harnesses during final trim operations, including ceiling, firewall, dashboard, and destination sign harnesses.
1.3 ECU, Network Configuration, and Component Integration: Install, configure, and calibrate Electronic Control Units (ECUs), CAN Master/Slave modules, ABS modules, Control Switch Boxes, and Vehicle Control Units (VCUs). Perform ECAS system calibration and finalize underbody electrical routing and termination at the Trim stations.
1.4 Vehicle Lighting & Accessory Integration: Install, wire, and terminate interior and exterior body electrical accessories. This encompasses exterior side lights, turn signals, rear high-mount brake lights, height marker lights, wiper motors, defrosters, and dashboard instrument clusters.
1.5 CASE Technology & Telematics Configuration: Configure and test CASE-related vehicle technology features (connectivity, telematics, driver-assistance sensors). Integrate radar modules, rear-wall proximity sensors, Digital Video Recorder (DVR) sets, side cameras, interior cameras, and passenger televisions. Escalate anomalies directly to the Product Development EE Systems Engineering team for new-model issues.
1.6 Thermal Management & Fluid Systems Integration: Integrate the cooling systems for the motor and batteries on the chassis line, including electric water pump assemblies, coolant filters, and stainless-steel piping. Refill coolants and necessary oils, executing mechanical system checks prior to final validation.
1.7 End-of-Line EE Testing & Fault Troubleshooting: Perform functional, diagnostic, and end-of-line EE testing on completed buses using specialized tools such as the WABCO ECAS Diagnostic Adapter and Megger Insulation resistance testers. Troubleshoot, debug, and rectify identified electrical faults, coordinating hardware-level rework with mechanical operators prior to QIT handover.
1.8 Equipment Maintenance & QHSE Compliance: Verify configuration, calibration, and test results against approved specifications. Comply strictly with QHSE requirements for electrical work, executing lock-out/tag-out procedures and maintaining safe handling protocols for high-voltage components. Perform routine inspection and calibration checks on assigned diagnostic equipment, reporting any faults requiring corrective maintenance.
1.9 Warehouse and Stock Management: Manage the Division’s stocked items, including electrical consumables, materials, and parts. Receive, store, issue, and record stock movements, maintaining accurate stock records and highly organized, labeled storage in strict adherence to 5S Lean Manufacturing principles. Conduct quarterly stocktaking, reconciling variances and reporting shortages, discrepancies, and re-order needs directly to the supervisor.
