Position Title: Project Coordinator
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda, with periodic field travel to the project areas
Reports to: Director Research and Knowledge Development
Supervisory role: Yes

Scope of work
The Project Coordinator, working closely in partnership with the Director of Research and Knowledge Development, will be responsible for advancing all agreed project deliverables with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and ensuring the smooth running of the project. They will also work in collaboration with all project and partner staff, including Field Coordinators, Technical Coordinators, MEAL officers, and Finance Officers of respective partners.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the Kulea Watoto 2.0 project in Kampala and Yumbe in line with the project wide results framework, budget and work plan, including local consortium partners.
  • Lead the development, management and implementation of key project management tools, such as workplans, spending plans, procurement plans to track progress and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage and oversee the project budget, track expenditure and maintain accurate projections including tracking project progress against plans, troubleshooting and flagging barriers to success with relevant staff and leadership.
  • Work closely with the project MEAL Officer, Advocacy, Knowledge Management Officer and Research Coordinator for timely collection and analysis of project data and the regular collection and sharing of project evidence and learning.
  • Lead the project team by creating and maintaining a work environment that promotes teamwork, trust, mutual respect, and empowers and partner staff to take
    responsibility.
  • Oversee consortium project management, acting as the project focal point with the implementing partner organizations to ensure that they are on track with their deliverables, targets and spending.
  • Ensure that project communications are timely, relevant and accurate, including regular status updates.
  • Support consortium partners in developing, managing and implementing key project management tools, such as workplans, spending plans and procurement plans. Liaise with other coordinators and Conrad N. Hilton Foundation funded partners to ensure that synergies and complementarities are incorporated in the Kulea Watoto 2.0 project.
  • Represent the project with the donor, the Ministry of Education and Sport (MoES) and other important stakeholders to ensure high visibility of the project and its achievements.
  • Ensure that all feedback and requests for information from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation are timely addressed.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by your immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, experience and skills required

  • Master’s Degree in Management, Education, International Relations/Development, Project Management, or any other relevant field is an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar role, managing large-scale, crossfunctional, multilocation projects, including overseeing teams across different locations or consortia with several organizations.
  • At least 8 years’ experience responding to complex humanitarian crises and/or post-conflict situations in Uganda, preferably focusing on early childhood development, education, or livelihoods programming.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, communication, and representation skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) with strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under administrative and programmatic pressures while being a team player.
  • Strong decision-making, advanced planning, and organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple activities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated creativity, innovative thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to navigate interdepartmental and interpersonal organizational dynamics to maintain focus on goals and deliverables.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong commitment to AfriChild’s mission, purpose, and values.
  • Experience in training and staff capacity building.
