On behalf of our client in the Manufacturing Sector, we are looking for competent and experienced Project Engineer tobe based in Kampala

Reports To: Sales Head SBS

Number of Positions: One (1)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.

Job Summary: The Project Engineer will Supervise the site installation of pre-engineered steel structures through the Technical Site representatives and ensure that this is in line with agreed project timeline, cost & the company technical standards on installation

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Planning

• Develop and implement construction plans, schedules, ensuring adherence to contract timelines.
• Ensure pre-installation site surveys are done avoid challenges in execution stage
• Technical competency evaluation of Installers/ Sub contractors during tendering

Execution

• Liaison with internal stakeholders (design, production & customer services) and external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, architects, etc) to facilitate timely resolution of   onsite installation issues
• Provide guidance to resolve site execution issues

Monitoring & Control

• Ensure site execution is adequately supervised, guided and monitored as per company technical standards
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
• Conduct periodic site visits to ensure workmanship meets company standards and client expectations.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Compile & circulate site weekly & monthly progress reports
• Evaluate extra claims & prepare request for approval

Other Responsibilities

• Arrange training programs for Installers/ Sub contractors & Technical Site representatives

Procurement responsibility:

• Identify, evaluate & recommend Installers/ Sub contractors for onboarding
• Monitor & evaluate Installers/ Sub contractors’ performance on continuous basis & provide feedback (both internal & external)

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Qualifications required:

• Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Technology in Civil/ Structural Engineering, Construction or equivalent.
• Diploma in Construction / Project Management Qualifications will be an added advantage
• Professional registration: Relevant Professional Body

Experience required

• General work experience (years): 7 years in Construction
• 5 years’ work experience in pre-engineered steel structures
• Industry: Construction

• Sound technical and applied skills relevant to the built environment
• Ability to liaise with customers, a variety of professionals (including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors & project managers) and other societal authorities towards creating a strategic advantage for the organizations business.
• Ability to undertake technical & feasibility studies including site investigations
• Ability to make presentations and pitches to relevant stakeholders towards the organizations advantage
• Ability to undertake complex and repetitive calculations
• Ability to think methodically in designing, planning & executing projects
• Ability to simultaneously deal with multiple project requirements while maintaining focus on each projects details and technicalities
• Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
• Results oriented – ability to prioritize key tasks and manage against deadlines
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and to multitask
• Self-Starter able to work with minimal supervision

• English

Computer literacy:

• Proficiency in ordinary computer environment applications (Windows, Office & Internet)

Commercial CAD Experience

• AutoCAD a MUST
