Saviour is a Microfinance institution licensed by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority with operations in the Central, Eastern and Northern regions of Uganda. We provide funding to Small and Medium Enterprise businesses and Christian Educational Institutions.

Job Summary: Saviour Microfinance Limited (SML) invites applications from experienced, results-oriented and highly committed Recovery Agents to support the institution in the recovery of long-outstanding loan accounts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The appointed Recovery Agents will be responsible for:

  • Pursuing recovery of long-overdue and non-performing loan accounts assigned by SML.
  • Tracing and engaging delinquent borrowers, guarantors and other responsible parties.
  • Conducting field visits to borrowers and guarantors to facilitate recovery of outstanding amounts.
  • Following up on accounts where formal demand notices have already been issued.
  • Making persistent and professional recovery efforts towards full settlement of outstanding obligations.
  • Supporting the identification and verification of borrowers’ and guarantors’ current locations, businesses and other relevant information.
  • Documenting all recovery actions, commitments, payments and outcomes.
  • Working closely with SML’s Credit, Recovery, Finance and Legal teams on assigned accounts.
  • Escalating cases requiring further legal or other appropriate recovery action to SML management.
  • Submitting regular and accurate recovery reports on assigned accounts.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  Applicants should possess:

  • Demonstrable experience in loan recovery, debt collection, microfinance recovery or related work.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to trace and locate difficult-to-reach borrowers and guarantors.
  • Strong determination and resilience in handling challenging recovery assignments.
  • Good knowledge of the local business and community environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver measurable recovery results.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical debt recovery practices will be an added advantage.

Remuneration

The engagement will be performance-based, with recovery agents remunerated in accordance with an agreed recovery commission/incentive structure based on actual recoveries from assigned accounts.
