SACCO Manager – MUBS STAFF SACCO

Position: SACCO Manager

Employment Status: Three (3) Year Renewable Contract

Reports to: Chairperson, MUBS STAFF SACCO BOARD

Job Purpose: The SACCO Manager will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the MUBS Staff SACCO. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure efficient service delivery, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, membership growth, and effective implementation of Board decisions. The Manager will oversee the SACCO's day-to-day operations while promoting prudent financial management, sound governance, excellent member relations, and continuous organizational growth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Business Development

  • Implement the SACCO Strategic Plan and translate Board-approved strategies into annual operational plans and targets.
  • Monitor and evaluate organizational performance against strategic objectives and report progress to the Board.
  • Identify business opportunities and operational challenges and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Develop and review SACCO products and services to ensure competitiveness and sustainability.
  • Promote growth in membership, savings, share capital, investments, and loan portfolio.
  • Strengthen internal control systems and risk management practices.

Financial and Operational Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the SACCO in accordance with approved policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise loan processing, savings mobilization, and financial transactions.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity and advise the Board on financial performance.
  • Prepare monthly management reports, quarterly financial reports, and annual operational reports.
  • Maintain an updated register of assets, liabilities, securities, and insurance records.
  • Ensure prudent utilization and protection of SACCO assets and resources.

Governance and Administrative Management

  • Ensure timely implementation of all Board and Annual General Meeting (AGM) resolutions.
  • Coordinate Board meetings in consultation with the Chairperson and Board Committees.
  • Work closely with the General Secretary to ensure proper documentation and safe custody of Board and AGM records.
  • Ensure compliance with SACCO policies, cooperative regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with members, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare management briefs and reports for Board consideration.

Stakeholder Relations and Member Services

  • Promote excellent customer service and respond promptly to members' inquiries and complaints.
  • Market SACCO products and services to existing and prospective members.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with members, regulators, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, and member confidence in SACCO operations.

Human Resource Management

  • Supervise and coordinate the performance of all SACCO staff.
  • Establish performance targets and monitor staff productivity.
  • Identify staff training and capacity development needs.
  • Provide guidance on human resource and administrative matters.
  • Foster a high-performance, ethical, and customer-oriented work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Microfinance, Law, or any related field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years& relevant experience in a financial institution, preferably within Tier I-IV banking institutions, microfinance institutions, or SACCOs.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience will be an added advantage.

Added Advantage

  • CPA(U), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification (completed or finalist).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related discipline.
