SECURITY COORDINATOR – TowerCo of Africa Uganda

About the Role

We are seeking a competent and experienced Security Coordinator to support the implementation of effective security controls that protect employees, contractors, suppliers, company assets, sites, and operations. The role will support security governance, risk assessment, incident response, contractor oversight, security reporting, and site assurance in line with company procedures, applicable Ugandan requirements, and recognised good industry practice including the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and IFC Performance Standard 4.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the Group and country security strategy, approved security standards, procedures, and operating models.
  • Conduct threat, vulnerability, and security risk assessments and recommend practical, cost-effective physical security controls.
  • Support development, review, and implementation of the Country Security Plan, security SOPs, and site-level security arrangements.
  • Coordinate security incident response, investigations, evidence gathering, corrective action follow-up, and escalation to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain security intelligence, local contact networks, incident registers, risk reporting tools, and periodic management reports.
  • Conduct site security spot checks across regions and ensure nonconformities are recorded, escalated, and closed.
  • Reconcile security deployments against approved rosters, attendance records, and contractor site coverage reports, and support management sign-off.
  • Support HSE compliance within security operations, including PPE compliance, toolbox talks, emergency preparedness, journey management, traffic safety, and community health and safety expectations.
  • Maintain crisis response files, support crisis readiness, and ensure continuity arrangements are documented and communicated.
  • Carry out any other lawful duties assigned within the scope of the role.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Higher National Diploma in Engineering or bachelor’s degree in law, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ practical experience in physical security, site security coordination, contractor security management, or security operations, preferably in telecommunications, critical infrastructure, utilities, logistics, construction, or high-risk field operations.
  • Professional security certification such as ASIS APP, PSP, CPP, or an equivalent recognised credential is an added advantage. Candidates without certification should be willing to pursue one within an agreed period.
  • Training or demonstrated knowledge in security risk assessment, incident investigation, evidence handling, root cause analysis, report writing, corrective action follow-up, VPSHR, IFC Performance Standard 4, and responsible use of security forces.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Ugandan legal and regulatory requirements relating to private security operations, police liaison, access control, occupational health and safety, and community protection obligations.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, incident reporting tools, risk registers, contractor performance trackers, security reconciliation records, and evidence-based management reporting.
  • Prior experience or formal training with the Police, Military, or other recognized security institutions and exposure to security operations, investigations, incident response, and security protocols, is an added advantage for this position.

  • Ability to work independently, travel to sites when required, and operate effectively in a field-based environment.
  • Commitment to safety, respect for human rights, ethical conduct, and responsible security practices.
