Job Title: Spirits Packaging Team Leader

About the role:

Purpose of the role

To lead the shift-based teams in site end to end management and the execution of the production plan to minimize risks of out of stock through blending and packaging of quality spirits from resources and raw materials planning and receipt to full goods warehousing and shipment in the most efficient and cost-effective way in a safe environment through standard processes, introduction and embedding

Role Responsibilities:

Key Deliverables:

1.   Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.

  • Follow safety, health and environmental procedures & legislation.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure alcohol, DrinkiQ and other policies are enforced.
  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments and process improvements.

2.   Optimize Production Performance and Processes

  • Participate in planning process and forecasting in order to align process operators, blenders, Asset care and stores controller.
  • Interpret and implement the production plan for shift.
  • Supervise shift operations to achieve production plan.
  • Be responsible for Usage and Optimizations of spirits products packaging materials within acceptable limits and budgets.
  • Sign and authorize process records (SIVs’ blending reports etc.) in order to control and monitor materials movement so as to optimize waste within targets.
  • Supervise Production of consistent high-quality products as per set quality standards
  • Be responsible for the transfer of finished Spirits products to the full goods store and ensure they are stored as per standards.
  • Perform SIC review and signoff during the shift as per defined intervals
  • Perform raw materials and full goods reconciliations at stipulated intervals and standards ensuring that all variances are explained timely
  • Post product in SAP/ Computer software for goods and materials movement real time.
  • Ensure that all process orders posted in the computer software are technically completed both for blending and packaging.
  • Apply problem solving and decision making techniques and principles and facilitate team problem solving.
  • Co-ordinate scheduled maintenance and autonomous operations to achieve high plant availability for production.
  • Participate and drive standard methodologies and projects implementation through TRACC
  • Build and develop relationships with collaborators.

3.   Perform Administration Duties

  • Maintain spirits blending and packaging reports in accordance with the UBL/ Diageo set out manufacturing excellence standards, policies and routine
  • Perform daily review of critical metrics to confirm whether actuals Vs targets are on or off track and take the necessary course of action to improve or sustain performance
  • Participate in SBT and sectional meetings.
  • Prepare and control budgets
  • Maintain the site facilities hygiene

4.   Manage Human Resources

  • Be amazing people manager to inspire team for success and lead them based on Diageo policies, standards and procedures.
  • Conduct coaching sessions with process operators for better team spirit, trust, empowerment and high performance.
  • Conduct career development conversations with process operators to provide proper guidelines on their development path.
  • Encourage operators to multi skill for flexibility and maintain good health.
  • Continue with Personal and team development.
  • Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate.
  • Lead and apply HR policies and practices.
  • Implement performance management processes
  • Running contractors within the business policies and ensure they are compliant.

Key Performance Indicators:

1.   Health, Safety and Environment

  • Drive TRA/ LTA targets as stipulated.
  • SIRCs raising and closure as per targeted number and rate.
  • PPE adherence audits as set out frequency.
  • SAM & LOTO adherence
  • 5S and hygiene Shift score as per set targets
  • Machine Safety interlocks inspections as per routine and frequency
  • Review Risk assessments as per stated frequency.
  • Timely Incidents reporting as per category.
  • 100% compliance to medical checks for self and team

2.   Blending and Packaging Performance

  • Drive Team Autonomous Maintenance Level to set targets.
  • Managing stocks within finance limits.
  • Drive Adherence to Plan and Conformance to Schedule as per set targets.
  • 100% Daily, weekly, and monthly spirits production reports completion.
  • Drive Material Losses and usages to below set targets for PET, Glass, Closure, Liquid, Labels, and utilities.
  • Ensure Zero unaccounted for Stock Losses
  • Drive Goods quality to within defined quality standards, Specifications, and targets.
  • Compliance to ISO standards through periodic audit
  • Achieve OEE for all production lines above set out targets.
  • Drive Employee productivity to agreed targets
  • Problem solving for root cause as per set out triggers
  • Develop and review documentations (SOP, OPL, & SWIs among others as per set out standards

3.   Human resources Management

  • Drive Adherence to Leave Plans and leave days balances to set targets.
  • Achieve your voice survey scores above set targets.
  • Adherence to Tier meetings as per set out frequencies.
  • Drive absenteeism for self and team to within agreed targets.
  • Conduct one on ones and coaching as per set out frequencies.
  • Drive performance management conversations as per set targets

Experience / skills required:

Qualification

  • A Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical engineering

Experience

  • 2 years Management experience preferably in FMCG industry.
  • Advanced digital literacy
