Temporary Infrastructure Implementation Engineer – NITA Uganda

Job Purpose

The Temporary Infrastructure Implementation Engineer shall participate in the implementation cycle of IT infrastructure projects, focusing on Network Extension, Last-Mile Connectivity, and the growth of backhaul networks.

Key Accountabilities

• Participate in the Monitoring of NITA-U Infrastructure to regularly undertake scheduled periodic assessments on the health of NITA-U IT Infrastructure;
• Undertake surveys required to develop designs for Network installations
• Supervise the installation of Optical Fibre Cables, Optical Switching Network, and Other Civil works required in the extension of backhaul networks, last mile extensions and repairs, and relocations on existing Infrastructure;
• Provide technical support to other public and private sector agencies undertaking IT Infrastructure Projects to promote high-quality, cost-effective, and timely outputs of the projects and support the project design and development.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields is essential.
• Certificates in Operation and Maintenance of Campus Networks and Wireless Networks are an added advantage

Experience

• A Minimum of 6 months working experience in the deployment of Last Mile networks, backhaul networks, and connectivity projects

Technical Competencies

  • Experience in deployment of Last mile Connectivity, Optical Switching Technology, Wireless technologies, and related technologies

Behavioural Competencies

• Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team,
• Capacity to establish credibility, trust, and partnership
• Excellent communication and report writing skills.
