Job Description

• Control engineering tools, spare parts, and maintenance consumables used by plant technicians to support efficient factory operations.
• Maintain organized inventory storage and accurate tracking to ensure rapid part retrieval and prevent extended production downtime.

• Receive incoming engineering components and verify deliveries against purchase orders and approved receiving documents.
• Organize, label, and position spare parts in assigned bins and shelves with accurate descriptions and part numbers.
• Issue tools to maintenance personnel against authorized names or work orders, inspecting returned tools for completeness and damage.
• Monitor minimum and maximum inventory thresholds and report critical spare parts approaching reorder points.
• Maintain reliable inventory records across bin cards, spreadsheets, and computerized ERP or CMMS platforms.
• Conduct routine cycle counts and report physical stock discrepancies for investigation.
• Store hazardous materials such as oils, chemicals, batteries, and aerosols in compliance with safety instructions.
• Segregate damaged or obsolete items and maintain a clean, organized toolroom environment.

Skills

• Inventory recordkeeping and data entry in spreadsheets, ERP, or CMMS software
• Stock control, cycle counting, and discrepancy investigation
• Tool issuance tracking and visual inspection of returned equipment
• Identification of common mechanical and electrical plant components
• Safe handling and storage of hazardous engineering consumables

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

• Degree, Higher Diploma, National Diploma, or Ordinary Diploma in Stores Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Studies, Inventory Management, Accounting, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related fields
• National Certificate, technical certificate, vocational qualification, or recognized storekeeping training in relevant technical or stores disciplines
• Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for trainees demonstrating strong numeracy, computer literacy, and ability to learn technical part identification

Experience

• No prior work experience required.
• Practical onboarding covers engineering part terminology, bin systems, inventory software, tool control procedures, and storage safety.
