Background:
The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) is a non-profit organization established in 2005 with
a mission to improve human health through the strengthening and expansion of applied epidemiology and
laboratory capacity in partnership with Ministries of Health, Non-Governmental Organizations,
international agencies, private sector and other public health agencies. AFENET has its headquarters in
Kampala, Uganda with operations in more than 40 African Countries.
AFENET brings together field epidemiology training programs (FETPs) across Africa and works to
strengthen epidemiology and disease surveillance capabilities of African countries that are critical to
meeting the requirements of the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) strategy and the
International Health Regulations (IHR).
AFENET is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and experienced person to serve as Transport
Associate/Driver.
Job Title: Transport Associate (Driver)

Location/Workstation: AFENET Secretariat – Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Senior Transport and Protocol Officer
Job Purpose:
The Transport Associate/Driver will be responsible for transporting staff, visitors, and organizational
property in a timely, safe, and courteous manner.
Key Responsibilities / Duties / Tasks
• Ensure that the organization’s vehicle is maintained in good mechanical and functional condition
at all times.
• Maintain accurate vehicle records, including mileage logs, trip authorization forms, fuel records,
and other transport-related documentation required for administrative use.• Follow up with the contracted garage to ensure that identified vehicle defects are repaired promptly
and satisfactorily.
• Receive office mail and ensure that it is delivered to the appropriate destinations in a timely and
secure manner.
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Academic requirements:
• Minimum of an Ordinary Level Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
• A valid Driver’s license
• At least five (5) years’ driving experience with a clean driving record from a reputable organization.
• Previous experience working with NGO activities will be an added advantage.
