Job Purpose: The purpose of this role is to install, maintain, inspect, and repair plumbing systems and related infrastructure to ensure reliable water supply, drainage, sanitation, and compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting uninterrupted operations.
Functional Outputs/Activities per key performance area:
- Carry out routine inspections and condition monitoring of plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, sanitation, and piping networks.
- Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing installations as per maintenance schedules.
- Respond promptly to plumbing breakdowns, leakages, and blockages to minimize operational disruptions.
- Diagnose plumbing faults accurately and implement effective corrective actions.
- Raise maintenance notifications and complete job cards for all plumbing-related works.
- Conduct basic root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring plumbing failures and recommend corrective measures.
- Install, repair, and modify piping systems including water, steam, compressed air, and waste lines as required.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pumps, valves, fittings, fixtures, and plumbing accessories.
- Coordinate with mechanical, welding, and electrical teams during installations or major repairs.
- Maintain daily logs, records, and reports related to plumbing maintenance activities and water usage.
- Ensure availability of plumbing tools, materials, and spare parts through liaison with supervisor and stores.
- Communicate all plumbing-related issues and risks to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental guidelines in all day-to-day activities.
- Ensure compliance with 5S, asset care, and autonomous maintenance practices.
- Support training of operators or users on basic asset care and safe use of plumbing systems.
- Prepare daily shift handover and maintenance reports.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Financial Management
- Monitor and control daily shift maintenance costs.
- Risk Management: Identify the risks associated to the mechanical activities and communicating them to the mechanical in charge.
- Compliance
• Ensure regulatory compliance in execution of activities within Uganda.
• Adherence to all Movit Group and In Country Policies and Procedures.
• Prepare and submit location daily report.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Hold Diploma in Mechanical/Water Engineering
- A certificate in Plumbing is an added advantage
- Awareness in occupational health & safety
- 3 to 5 years relevant experience in FMCG Industry preferably in a similar role.
