To provide safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for MTN Uganda staff, equipment, materials, and other authorized passengers during field operations, activations, customer engagements, and other official company activities..

Job Title: Van Driver (Eastern Region)
Reports to: Manager – Regional Sales

Main Job Functions:
- Safe Transportation: Safely transport MTN Uganda employees, authorized passengers, equipment, and materials while complying with all traffic laws, company policies, and defensive driving standards.
- Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct daily vehicle inspections, maintain the vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition, and promptly report any mechanical faults, accidents, or safety concerns.
- Operational Support: Support MTN activations, customer engagements, field visits, events, and other regional operations, including emergency or urgent assignments when required.
- Record Keeping and Asset Protection: Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel, mileage, and service records, and safeguard company vehicles, equipment, documents, and other assigned assets.
- Professional Conduct and Compliance: Maintain a professional MTN brand image, provide courteous customer service, comply with HSSE requirements, and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or Regional Management.
Education
- Education: Minimum of UACE or equivalent qualification.
Work Experience
- Valid Driving Licence & Experience: Must possess a valid and current driving licence appropriate for passenger vans/minibuses and have at least 3 years of professional driving experience.
- Passenger Vehicle Competence: Proven experience driving passenger vehicles/minibuses carrying 15 or more passengers, with a clean driving record and strong knowledge of defensive driving, road safety, and accident prevention.
- Knowledge of Eastern Uganda: Good knowledge of roads, towns, trading centres, districts, and rural routes within the Eastern Region, with willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours as required.
- Language and Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in at least two local languages, preferably Lusoga and Luganda, and demonstrate good verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Vehicle Maintenance and Technology Skills: Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and routine maintenance, coupled with the ability to use smartphones, navigation applications (Google Maps), WhatsApp, and other field coordination tools
- Professionalism and Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit, demonstrate high levels of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and a customer-focused attitude when dealing with staff, customers, and other stakeholders.
