Job Title: Warehouse & Transportation Coordinator
Location: Kampala, Uganda. Mobilized to Albert Lake, construction sites, or other cities if required.
Primary function:
• Responsible for coordinating and overseeing warehouse, inventory, transportation, import logistics, and materials management activities to ensure safe, timely, compliant, and cost-effective support to drilling, production, and project operations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate project warehouse requirements and transportation activities with contractors, suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient support to operations.
- Coordinate inventory management activities, including stock control, inventory reconciliation and maintenance of optimum inventory levels to support operational requirements
- Serve as the in-country focal point for SAP/EMMS materials management processes, including material coding, master data management, and inventory reporting.
- Coordinate the transportation of materials, equipment, and personnel between project locations via road, air, and marine routes.
- Manage cargo receiving, handling, storage, shipment planning, and cargo manifest preparation to ensure efficient movement of materials.
- Coordinate with the Kampala Logistics team and contractors to ensure all shipments are properly planned, received, handled, and delivered to operational sites.
- Ensure fit-for-purpose vehicles, lifting equipment, warehouse handling equipment, lifting accessories, and storage facilities are available, maintained, inspected, and certified in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise lifting operations and material handling activities in compliance with approved procedures and safety standards.
- Handle customs clearance activities, including import and export documentation, permits, tariff exemptions, declarations, inspections, and examination processes
- Process permits and licenses for specialized cargo, including Dangerous Goods (DG) and Out-of-Gauge (OOG) shipments, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with suppliers, vendors, shipping agents, regulatory authorities, and contractors throughout the procurement and logistics process.
- Monitor contractor performance and verify transportation and lifting contractor timesheets in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Support in developing logistics forecasts and annual work planning, budgeting, and cost monitoring activities.
- Implement warehouse and transportation QHSE objectives, reporting systems, and ensure strict adherence to company QHSE procedures and industry standards.
- Participate in emergency response activities related to warehouse and logistics operations and develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and develop, review, and update warehouse & transportation policies, procedures, manuals, and management tools to enhance operational efficiency and information integrity.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) obligations, local regulations, and international oil and gas logistics standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, freight forwarding or the related.
- At least 4 years of related working experience, including 2 years in the Oil & Gas Industry.
Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of laws, customs, and commercial inspection.
- Extensive knowledge of warehouse, logistics, freight forwarding and foreign trade processes.
- Knowledge of declaration, import and export transportation.
- Extensive knowledge of warehouse operation.
- Excellent organizational, negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Good command of both written and spoken English.
