As part of this commitment, Masaka Farms will implement a three-year project supported by Mastercard, focused on creating meaningful training, skills development, and employment opportunities. Young people, particularly young Deaf women under the age of 35, are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.

Position Overview
Masaka Farms is seeking energetic, curious, and field-oriented Youth Shop Recruiters to support a
three-year Mastercard-supported project run by Masaka Farms.

The Youth Shop Recruiter will primarily work in the field to identify new market opportunities for Masaka Farms. This will include visiting shops, supermarkets, mini-markets, restaurants, hotels, and
other potential points of sale; collecting market information; identifying potential customers and locations; taking pictures and videos; and gathering useful information about Masaka Farms’ presence and opportunities in the market.

The position is focused on market mapping, field data collection, shop identification, and gathering market intelligence that can support Masaka Farms’ growth.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
The main objective of the position is to collect reliable market information and identify potential opportunities for Masaka Farms to expand its products and presence in the market.

Supporting activities include, but are not limited to:
● Visit different shops, supermarkets, mini-markets, restaurants, hotels, and other potential sales locations.

● Identify new shops and businesses where Masaka Farms products could potentially be sold.
● Collect accurate information about each potential shop or customer.
● Record shop names, locations, contact information, type of business, and other required details.
● Take clear and appropriate photos and videos of shops, locations, product displays, and other relevant market information, following company guidance and obtaining permission where required.
● Identify areas and neighborhoods where Masaka Farms has limited presence but potential market opportunities exist.
● Map existing and potential Masaka Farms points of sale.
● Observe and collect information about products available in different shops.
● Collect information about competitor products, pricing, packaging, product sizes, promotions, and market presence as requested.
● Observe how Masaka Farms products are displayed and positioned in shops where they are already available.
● Identify opportunities for improved product visibility, shelf presence, fridge placement, or availability.
● Collect information on customer and shop-owner preferences where required.
● Speak professionally with shop owners, attendants, and other relevant people to gather
market information.
● Identify potential leads and share them with the relevant Masaka Farms Sales team for follow-up.
● Capture field observations that may help Masaka understand changing customer and market needs.
● Complete assigned market surveys, questionnaires, forms, and data-collection tools accurately.
● Submit collected information, pictures, videos, locations, and other required evidence on time.
● Ensure all collected data is accurate and reflects what was actually observed in the field.
● Maintain organized records of shops and locations already visited to avoid unnecessary duplication.
● Follow assigned routes and field plans while also identifying new opportunities discovered during field visits.
● Report significant market observations and opportunities to the Project Lead and relevant Sales/Marketing teams.
● Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to understand what market information is required.
● Support periodic market-mapping exercises and other field research activities.
● Represent Masaka Farms professionally when interacting with shops, customers, and members of the public.
● Protect confidential company and market information collected during field activities.
● Participate in project meetings, field reviews, and learning sessions.
● Reinforce Masaka Farms’ core values of Integrity, Dignity, Excellence, and Turi Kumwe in all field activities.
● Perform other market research, data-collection, and project-related responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications
● Diploma, certificate, or relevant training in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, Data Collection, Market Research, ICT, Statistics, Community Development, or another relevant field is an advantage.
● Previous experience in fieldwork, data collection, market research, sales, marketing, surveys, or community-based work is an added advantage.
● Comfortable spending significant time working in the field and moving between different locations.
● Ability to confidently approach and communicate with shop owners, attendants, customers, and other members of the public.
● Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
● Ability to accurately collect and record information.
● Comfortable using a smartphone to take photos and videos, capture locations, complete digital forms, and submit field information.
● Basic understanding of sales and markets is an advantage.
● Ability to identify opportunities and communicate useful observations clearly.
● Good organizational and time-management skills.
● Honest and reliable when collecting and reporting information.
● Ability to work independently in the field while remaining accountable to the wider team.
● Good communication skills in Kinyarwanda; English or other languages will be an added advantage.
● Knowledge of or willingness to learn Rwandan Sign Language (RSL) is an advantage.
● Strong alignment with Masaka Farms’ values of Integrity, Dignity, Excellence, and TuriKumwe.
● Ability and willingness to commit to the three-year Mastercard-supported project.

What Success Looks Like
A successful Youth Shop Recruiter will:
● Consistently identify new and relevant market opportunities for Masaka Farms.
● Provide accurate and useful market information.
● Visit the assigned number of shops and locations within agreed timelines.
● Submit complete data, pictures, videos, and other required information.
● Identify potential shops and leads that can be followed up by Sales.
● Help Masaka Farms better understand where our products are, where they are not, what competitors are doing, and where opportunities for growth exist.
● Represent Masaka Farms professionally and respectfully in the market.

Compensation & Working Conditions
● Compensation: Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
● Location: Field-based, with regular visits to shops, markets, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, and other locations as assigned.

● Duration: This is a three-year project-based position under the Mastercard-supported project implemented by Masaka Farms.
● Working Schedule: The position will primarily involve fieldwork. Working schedules and assigned locations will be determined according to project and market needs.
● Reporting: The Youth Shop Recruiter will report to the designated Project Lead and work closely with Masaka Farms’ Sales and Marketing teams.
● Field Requirements: The successful candidate should be comfortable moving regularly between different locations and using digital tools to collect and submit information.
