Job title: Deputy Financial Controller
Reporting to: Financial Controller
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Review tax computations (VAT, VAT on imported services, WHT, PAYE, NSSF & income tax
- Ensure full compliance with all tax related acts
- Review inventory, customer, GRIR and vendor aging reports
- Review workflows in SAP system
- Review payrolls matter. The tasks involve checking attendance list, basic salaries, overtime, arrears, incentive computations, LSA, tax computations (LST, PAYE, NSSF), union computations, deductions of advance and Sacco among others
- Prepare management reports which includes trial balance, statement of comprehensive performance and the statement of financial position
- Prepare consolidated management reports (statement of comprehensive performance, the statement of financial position) for the Group of Companies in Uganda
- Prepare Executive summary reports which includes segment performance, profitability per SKU/ per segment, comparison between target verses actual and production reports. Coordinate with stake holders during this report preparation while ensuring timelines are followed and deadlines are met
- Participate in the process of identifying cost saving opportunities. Lead the compilation of the cost saving reports from different departments
- Participate in project reviews. Prepare investment proposal using payback period, IRR, ARR among others to assess the viability of the projects Identifying internal control gaps and proactive in addressing internal controls issues
- Coach and guide team members. Knowledge sharing in terms of accounting standards, processes and controls
- Key person in liaising with external and internal auditors Participate in the preparation of budget and forecast
- Any other duties assign by the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
- Work with JV (Joint Venture) partners and align their vision and goals, specifically in relation to staffing, systems and controls.
- Strong requirement to influence across Wilmar and JV partners
- Hands-on approach.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- CA/CPA (mandatory)
- Degree in Finance or Business (preferred)
- 3+ years proven professional and leadership experience in a supervisory finance function
- Sound financial reporting skills, including solid experience and exposure to FRS and auditing standards
- Comprehensive risk management and compliance skills, including knowledge of relevant
- Solid knowledge of local and international taxation practices
- ERP system knowledge (SAP knowledge advantageous
- Manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Solid knowledge of the MS Office Suite, SAP and/or comparable ERP
- Track record of strong integrity and ethics
- Critical behavioural competencies required: Strategic Leadership, Judgement and Decision-making, Influencing and Negotiation, Business Insight, Financial Acumen, Practical Execution Management, Monitoring.
