BACKGROUND: The World Food Programme’s 2026–2030 Uganda Country Strategic Plan aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and focuses on ending hunger and strengthening partnerships. Centred on three integrated outcomes – crisis response, resilience building, and systems strengthening – WFP prioritizes targeted support for the most vulnerable while empowering communities to foster self-reliance. With Uganda hosting Africa’s largest refugee population and facing recurring disasters, WFP works closely with the Government and partners to ensure access to nutritious food, promote school feeding, and enhance national social protection capacities for longterm, sustainable food systems.
DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUIREMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Uganda Country Office is in the process of updating its roster of food suppliers. WFP therefore invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible companies and suppliers that are duly registered in Uganda and have the capacity to supply one or more of the following food commodities:
- Fortified Maize Meal
- Fortified Vegetable Oil
- High Energy Biscuits
- Iodized Salt
- Non-GMO Millet
- Non-GMO Pulses/Beans (mixed beans, mung beans)
- Non-GMO Rice
- Non-GMO Sorghum
- Non-GMO White Maize

To fully realize this impact, WFP Uganda encourages working vendors who are committed to engaging with smallholder farmers in a proactive and meaningful way; suppliers who demonstrate involvement in production, aggregation, capacity building and market access for smallholder farmer organizations are strongly encouraged to apply. Furthermore, WFP Uganda strongly encourages applications from suppliers who adopt system strengthening approaches such as promoting inclusion by working with women and youth and implementing sustainable agricultural and operational practices. These efforts contribute to building resilient, inclusive and sustainable food systems.
