Project Engineer – Makerere University

Makerere University is hiring a Project Engineer to supervise the project consultants and staff on all technical aspects

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that service providers comply with contractual obligations.
  • Assist in procurement planning and reporting.
  • Participate in the preparation of bid documents.
  • Participate in the evaluation of bids and proposals.
  • Review and validate architectural and engineering designs.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary design inputs (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and Plumbing (MEP).
  • Ensure that construction work complies with drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Supervise contractors and subcontractors for technical accuracy and quality.
  • Monitor safety compliance based on national regulations and project-specific safety plans.
  • Maintain detailed site records, including daily reports, quality control logs, and test results, to ensure accurate documentation,
  • Support in preparing interim payment certificates, change orders, and technical justifications.
  • Submit timely reports to the Supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An honors Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Requirements
  • Computer literate and knowledgeable in the use of standard design software, e.g., AutoCAD.
  • Experience
  • At least eight (8) years of experience, 3 of which should be as a registered Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board. Experience in undertaking similar roles for similar infrastructure protects
