Makerere University is hiring a Project Engineer to supervise the project consultants and staff on all technical aspects
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that service providers comply with contractual obligations.
- Assist in procurement planning and reporting.
- Participate in the preparation of bid documents.
- Participate in the evaluation of bids and proposals.
- Review and validate architectural and engineering designs.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary design inputs (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and Plumbing (MEP).
- Ensure that construction work complies with drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Supervise contractors and subcontractors for technical accuracy and quality.
- Monitor safety compliance based on national regulations and project-specific safety plans.
- Maintain detailed site records, including daily reports, quality control logs, and test results, to ensure accurate documentation,
- Support in preparing interim payment certificates, change orders, and technical justifications.
- Submit timely reports to the Supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An honors Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Requirements
- Computer literate and knowledgeable in the use of standard design software, e.g., AutoCAD.
- Experience
- At least eight (8) years of experience, 3 of which should be as a registered Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board. Experience in undertaking similar roles for similar infrastructure protects
