About the employer
A distributor of pharmaceutical and diagnostic stock, trading for fifteen years and now supplying hospitals, laboratories and private pharmacies across nine districts from a cold store beside the airport. Cold chain integrity is not one department here, it is the whole business: the licence rests on it, the customer list rests on it, and so does the insurance.
Clearing, the cold store and the last-mile fleet report to a single logistics manager rather than to three, because the handover points between them are exactly where temperature is lost. You would be one of four officers on the inbound rota, working beside a clearing agent, two store assistants and the dispatcher.
The authority to stop a consignment sits with the officer who finds the fault, and is not overruled by telephone. Officers who have held that line here have moved on into planning and into quality: the standards are the ones a regional distributor or a donor programme works to, which travels further than the job title does.
Job Description
- Coordinate clearing agents and track inbound airfreight consignments from airway bill to gate release
- Verify goods received against the packing list, the commercial invoice and the consignment temperature log
- Reconcile every cold chain excursion to a written disposition before stock is released for sale
- Plan last-mile dispatch routes and reconcile proof of delivery against the dispatch note daily
- Maintain stock accuracy in the warehouse system through cycle counts and batch-level location control
- Monitor batch numbers and expiry dating, and escalate short-dated stock to the commercial team
- Quarantine any consignment that breaks cold chain and hold it until the disposition is signed
- Prepare the weekly inbound and delivery performance report for the logistics manager

The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain or a related field
- Internship, industrial training or up to two years in a warehouse, freight or distribution role
- Working knowledge of customs documentation and the import clearing sequence
- Comfortable with a warehouse or inventory system and confident in Excel
- An understanding of cold chain handling and Good Distribution Practice, or the readiness to be trained in it
- Accurate with batch, expiry and temperature records as a matter of temperament
- Available for an early inbound shift
